Five Simple Ways to Achieve Happiness

March 20 is World Happiness Day. But if you do not feel that way, do not worry about it. Because you can learn how to be a happy person.

Musicians and athletes must learn to be happy as well as those who are constantly exercising in order to achieve success.

"Happiness does not just happen, you have to train for it," said Laurie Santos, a professor of psychology at Yale University in the United States.

Professor Laurie Santos is the perfect person to guide us through the darkness in our minds. Her lecture on "Psychology and the Good Life" at Yale University was one of the most popular at the university's 317 - year history. 1200 students were registered for it and it was a record.

"It has been scientifically proven that it takes some mental effort to be happy. It's not an easy thing to do," says Laurie Santos. But it is not impossible.

According to the professor, here are five exercises you should start if you want to be happy.

1. Prepare a list of those to thank

Professor Laurie Santos urges her students to compile a list of people to thank every night for a week.

It will be a list of those to thank.

“This seems like a simple thing, but we have seen that students who do this exercise regularly are happy,” she said.

2. Get more and more sleep

Getting 8 hours of sleep every night for a week is a challenge.

According to the professor, this is the hardest exercise to accomplish.

"This may seem like a silly thing to do, but we know that getting more sleep can help you get rid of depression as well as increase positive attitudes."

3. Meditation

Meditate for 10 minutes every day. Meditation is the unification of the mind.

Laurie Santos says she felt more comfortable meditating regularly when she was educated.

She is currently a professor. She shows her students how to focus fully on a task through meditation and other activities. She says it can make her happier.

4. Spend time with family and friends

According to Dr. Santos, research has shown that spending quality time with friends and family can be more enjoyable.

Spending time with loved ones or maintaining "successful interpersonal and social relationships" will enhance the quality of life.

Lori Santos points out that this is not a serious matter. "Make sure you're happy at the moment. Be mindful of how your time is going."

The concept of time is very important for your happiness. "We always measure wealth by the money we have, but research has shown that we should measure wealth by the time we have."

5. Reduce social media connections and maintain real relationships

Professor Laurie Santos says that the relationships we have through social media give us false happiness. That is why we should stay away from it.

"Recent research has shown that users of social media, especially Instagram, are more unhappy than those who do not."

Then you have the means to an end.

If you really want to enjoy life, start giving thanks, get a good night's sleep, make up your mind, associate well with the people you like and stay away from social media for a while.

It was a success for Yale University students. You too will benefit.
